How It All Started
Our family run business was originally set up by Ted Hacker in 1950, passed on to his niece Jean and her husband Dave Duncan in 1978 and now owned by Derek Meakin. A chance meeting between Dave and Derek (Del) Meakin, a few years ago led to the formation of a new chimney sweeping partnership which meant Dave could pass on his expertise and wisdom to Del. After working together for several years, Del achieved his National Association of Chimney Sweeps qualification and formally took over the ACME Chimney Sweep business in October 2017.
Whilst Dave is now less actively involved in sweeping chimneys, he will often be seen accompanying “the boy” for the odd day out, and Jean continues to manage our customer calls and appointments.
ACME has a great history of providing a first-class service to customers and we’re confident that we can carry on this tradition for many years to come.
